Nia Martin-Robinson
She/Her
Nia E. Martin-Robinson, is a queer, femme, Black woman, born and raised in Detroit. Her values and approach to anti-racist equity work are rooted in Black Feminist theory and a deep desire to be in service to all Black people, particularly women, girls and femmes. As a facilitator, trainer, and convener, Nia is most organically in her element when she is able to curate spaces that allow all participants to demonstrate and experience bravery, honesty, and joy. For Nia, laying this foundation for sustainable and equitable culture change has become her life's work.
Nia possesses deep commitments to racial, environmental and reproductive justice and to centering women of color. Throughout her almost 20 year career, Nia has shown an unwavering dedication and commitment to challenging racism and inequities in mainstream social movements and large non-profit organizations. Nia has successfully leveraged her passion as an activist and advocate into meaningful, equity based contributions to the missions of organizations like the Sierra Club and Planned Parenthood Federation of America. As a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) practitioner, Nia’s ability to balance strength in her convictions with a practice of firm compassion has helped her become a skilled and effective facilitator and trainer. She embodies leadership through love and her superpower is being able to make people experience deep, stress-relieving laughter.
When taking a break from being a diplomatic trouble-maker, Nia enjoys laughing loudly, reading fiction by BIPOC women and femme authors, and planning vacations with friends and family. Currently, Nia resides in her hometown of Detroit, MI where you can often find her lounging in her apartment and living her best Global-Afro-Femme-Maximalist life.
