Steven King

Steven King is a seasoned organizational development consultant, facilitator, and educator with over 15 years of dedicated experience in creating pathways for emerging leaders of color, fostering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and advancing Clean Energy initiatives. As the Founder and Principal of Global Sustainable Solutions (GSS), Steven's work focuses on supporting, training, developing, and operationalizing strategies that empower both established and emerging BIPOC leaders. With a deep commitment to social justice and youth leadership, he elevates the voices and participation of Black and Brown individuals as thought leaders, innovators, and decision-makers.


Steven's extensive career includes collaborating with the Global Labor Institute at Cornell University's School of Industrial Labor Relations, where he engaged with labor leaders and members at all levels. His work also involved union education and working with unions on strategic planning in response to emerging changes in the global workforce and economy. Additionally, Steven co-designed and co-facilitated the Black Trade Union Leadership Academy at Cornell University, further demonstrating his dedication to leadership development within the labor movement.

Steven's influence extends to higher education, where he serves as the Curriculum Designer and Facilitator for the Building DEI in Environmental Organizations course at UC Davis's Continuing Education Program. This program addresses the imperative of building authentic, sustainable, and equitable DEI solutions in the workplace and reflects his expertise in bridging leadership, sustainability, education, workforce development, and entrepreneurship. His contributions also encompass a Visiting Scholar role at The Tishman Environment and Design Center at The New School.


Furthermore, Steven's passion for supporting emerging leaders of color led him to serve as the Director of the Roger Arliner Young (RAY) Diversity Fellowship Program within the Environmental Leadership Program. In this role, he coached, advised, and supported leaders through the lens of racial and social justice, challenging organizations to confront biases and champion social justice during tumultuous times.

Steven's commitment to social justice and his ability to operationalize strategies for change are exemplified in his roles as Senior Manager at the Electric Freight Program and Special Projects Manager at the Electrification Coalition, where he implemented decarbonization initiatives with a strong emphasis on equity outcomes for historically disadvantaged communities.

With a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Pace University and a Master of Arts from The New School, Steven King is a thought leader and change-maker dedicated to transforming organizations into anti-racist entities and advancing racial justice, sustainability, and equity.
