Debra Alexander
Debra Alexander is an OD consultant, DEI strategist and HR Advisor with more than 20 years experience working clients in the public, human services, union and social justice sectors. She has served SEIU in each of these capacities, including strategic planning, facilitating training and retreats, reviewing (and developing) HR policies and procedures, and educational coaching (for performance and HR compliance requirements).
Debra is passionate about promoting and sustaining employee engagement, building positive relationships, and strengthening individual, team, leadership and organizational performance. She incorporates the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion into her work in impactful and sustainable ways. Recently, her anti-racism training video, “All In,” won a 2023 Telly award and her legacy group, Diversity Decoded, LLC, released a children’s book—Be Be Like Me from A to Z-- which introduces Black history to young readers of all races and identities.
Debra completed doctoral studies at Teachers College, Columbia University and the University of St. Thomas (MN). She holds an M.S. in Human Resources and Organization Development from the American University and a BA in English Literature from Hampton University. She has a post-graduate certification in Organization & Systems Development from the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland and currently serves on the faculties of Georgetown University’s Organizational Consulting and Change Leadership program and the BOLD Center.
